Companies practice output controls and measurement to obtain data for interest in a product. A common debate is accessing personal information, such as your Internet use and cell phone data. How often do you find an advertisement for a product you searched the day before? Do you appreciate organizations obtaining your Internet search information from Google? Explain the positive and negative actions for this situation. Remember to focus on controls and strategy in a global business.

The focus for this week is the understanding of control in a global business. Control systems include bureaucratic controls, interpersonal controls, and output controls and measurements. You will want to review each before answering the initial discussion question. What I find most interesting about this topic is to understand the mission statement of the organization before learning about the control systems used. For those of you who work, how many know your organization's mission statement? I hope you took the opportunity to review what is the mission of your organization and perhaps of those organizations you do business with.
