Discussion 1: How many instruments (including voices) do you hear? Do your best to describe each instrument you hear using the Sachs-Hornbostel system. Do your best to figure out what the vibrating medium is, or to discern the technique used to produce sound. How do you think the vibrating medium was set into vibration? Describe what you latched onto as a listener since you can't see the instrument.

Discussion 2: Listen to the dominant melody in your excerpt (if you can pick it out) and try to identify its melodic contour. Draw the contour (shape) if you can, using a portion that you can fit onto this single page. Also, make note whether you hear repeating material in the example you choose. How long are the repeated segments you hear, in terms of minutes or seconds?
