A hockey player is standing on his skates on a frozen lake when an opposing player skates by with the puck, moving at a uniform speed of 12m/s. After 3s, the first player makes up his mind to chase his opponent. If he accelerates uniformly at 4/mssq, How long does it take to catch the opponent? How far has he traveled in this time/ ( assume that the player with the puck remains in motion at a constant speed.)
