Question - Suppose a chondritic meteorite contain the hypothetical radioactive parent element Anna-ium, and the hypothetical daughter element Khalid-ium. Suppose we know that Anna-ium decays to Khalid-ium with a half life of 1 billion years and that the meteorite contained no Khalid-ium when it was formed. Using the SHRIMP 2 machine, you measure the ratio of Anna-ium to Khalid-ium. You find a ratio of Anna-ium/Khalid-ium is equal to 1/3.
