A.B., age 24, is currently serving a 5-year sentence in the Colorado Department of Correctionsfor a violent offense. He is 90 days from the end of his sentence and will be released back to thecommunity. He suffers from a psychotic disorder, and recently began refusing to take hisprescribed medications. He states that staff members are trying to poison him. He won't eatand has lost approximately 10 pounds, noticeable on an already slender, youthful frame. Hekeeps repeating, "I can't go back. I can't go back." Staff members labor to develop a plan for hiscare and management of symptoms. They don't understand what it means that he "can't goback" and just want him to comply. He has a history of untreated complex trauma-that is,early and repeated episodes of abuse. Based on the details provided, one might assume hewould be treated in a hospital. That is not the case. He remains is a safety risk in the securesetting and is serving time for a violent offense that led to serious bodily harm of anotherperson in the community and during confinement. He is known for "going off" on staff andothers who are incarcerated, often causing injury. From an organization perspective, every staffmember has a chance to help A.B. They are in control of his environment-in charge of treatment referrals and often serve as a bridge to care. The staff are at a loss for what to do. He does not have family who come to visit him, and staff members are worried about how he will function when he leaves the locked setting. They have heard from others that he grew up in a home that was ultimately condemned by the city. They don't know where to look for family. Staff have lost patience and compassion for him over time and are always on guard to avoid being assaulted. Please answer the below questions. Your job is to use the course materials (see above forspecific instructions on how many of the readings assigned from weeks 1-6 must be utilizedacross the questions below) to form the response. You may use information from PowerPointslides, but this must be in addition to ensuring you utilize a minimum of 15 different coursereading assignments to inform your responses. Please note that the requirement of citingmaterial from 15 articles/chapters is a total number across both questions, not 15 for eachquestion.
Question 1. How likely is it that A.B.'s mental health condition and history of trauma is related to hiscriminal offending?
