Suppose that it is desired to estimate the proportion of persons in a large population who have a certain characteristic. A random sample of 100 persons is selected from the population without replacement, and the proportion X of persons in the sample who have the characteristic is observed. Show that, no matter how large the population is, the standard deviation of X is at most 0.05.
