"In response to the widespread protests against racism and police brutality, numerous companies have publicly declared their dedication to more inclusive hiring practices, and some have contributed funds to civil rights organizations. However, as many have highlighted, these actions contradict a regrettable track record of failing to fulfill well-meaning intentions when it comes to employees of color, or any employees for that matter. In the article, "How Labor Laws Disfavor People of Color", it is noted that the New Deal legislation excluded substantial categories of workers explicitly recognized as primarily consisting of workers of color, particularly African Americans. In fact, 90 percent of black working women did not receive any benefits from the new laws that established a minimum wage, maximum hours, the right to unionize, and support for the unemployed and elderly."
