Assessment - Ethical implications
Task description:
In this assessment, you will work in a team to explain how information systems help to address ethical implications. In addition to performing these activities, you will be required to submit the slides.
Learning Outcome 1: Analyse ICT problems and identify potential IT-enabled solutions under ethical considerations.
Learning Outcome 2: Employ communication and teamwork skills to work independently and collaboratively through reflective practice and dialogue.
What you need to do
Assignment overview
As a group, revisit the work you did to create the dashboard in Tableau. Reflect on the decisions you made and think about why you made them. Select one problem area (for example domestic violence) and provide recommendations for the stakeholders considering ethical implications relevant to the visualised data.
The recommendations do not necessarily need to provide solutions but can refer to next steps the stakeholders should take (what further analysis is required).
Steps to follow
Based on your data visualisation from the individual part (dashboard creation), discuss ethical implications in your team that might result from the creation, implementation, and use of the dashboard solution.
Build on the theories from the week 11 learning materials and choose one theory from ethical implications, where privacy aspects should also be considered.
Discuss the theory of your choice in your team and elaborate on rationales how the theory informs the problem.
Once you have reflected as a group and taken notes about your discussion, you can develop your presentation slides in the Assessment 2 Template: 1) Introduction, 2) Background, and 3) Discussion and Recommendations.
Introduction: Describe one identified problem from the dashboard creation (for example domestic violence), and explain how it is relevant to ethical implications.
Background: Draw on the theories from the week 11 learning materials and choose one theory from ethical implications, where privacy aspects should also be considered. Describe the theory of your choice and explain how it relates to the problem you presented in the introduction.
Discussion and Recommendations: Include the screenshot of the final dashboard of your choice, and discuss how the insights from the dashboard help to address the problem considering the theory you have chosen. Provide recommendations for the stakeholders relevant to the visualised data. The recommendations do not necessarily need to provide solutions but can refer to next steps the stakeholders should take (what further analysis is required).
Remember to use references where appropriate, which are compelling and effectively support your argumentation.
