Interview an individual who was raised in a country that is different from your country. Ask the person
1. How they see your culture as different from their own
2. How they see your culture as similar to their own
3. What differences were most surprising or difficult to adjust to
4. How they feel about questioning or disagreeing with their boss
5. What type of management they prefer - democratic, hierarchical, paternalistic, collaborative
6. Whether they think the boss should consult his/her employees before making decisions
7. Whether they prefer to be direct and to the point in a conversation or less direct, more tactful
8. Whether they think the listener should interpret meaning or if the speaker should say things so clearly that nothing is left to interpretation
9. Whether they provide the details first and then report conclusions or if they report the conclusions and the most important points and then report details only when asked
10. Whether they prefer to be diplomatic or confront issues openly
11. Whether it is more important for the individual person or for the company to succeed
12. Whether employees should be given individual recognition
13. How important it is to take individual initiative
14. Whether a person is responsible for aunts and uncles or just their parents, spouse and children
15. How they feel about nonconformists
16. How they think employees should be motivated
17. Whether or not it is important to get to know someone before doing business with them
18. Whether they would stay at work late to get the job done
19. Whether they work to live or live to work
20. How much they like trying new things, doing things a different way
21. How important rules are in the work place
22. How they feel about traditions
23. How comfortable they are with change
Do not accept simple yes, no or one or two word answers, ask the person you are interviewing to explain and give examples. You may need to prompt them with questions that get them to explain. Be sure to get enough information to be able to complete part D.
Part C Write

Part D Analyze
After the interview, make a graphic like the one attached to this assignment. Based on the answers the person gave you mark where you think that person falls on each of the scales. (Hint: learning to make the graphic is part of the assignment. It must be included to earn full credit for this assignment). Put the graph inside the formal paper.
