The first article I choose to select, talks about how some hospitals are refusing to give patients the drugs, Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, for COVID-19. Several hospitals refused to give patients drugs, including Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin (Voltz, 2021). Several states were included in this issue. The main issue is the refusal of hospitals to give these unauthorized medications for COVID-19. In terms of the key players, these are the hospitals or healthcare workers that are refusing to give these unauthorized medications, like Ivermectin. Several lawsuits have occurred with unauthorized treatments being the topic of discussion, including states like Texas, Florida, Illinois, and other states (Voltz, 2021). The issue of Hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin being refused as treatments in hospitals is a continued issue with the cases of COVID-19 continuing to rise. In several hospitals, hospital officials when they refused to give these medications felt like they were being threatened or harassed when they refused to administer these COVID-19 unauthorized treatments (Voltz, 2021). This issue with unauthorized covid treatments is ongoing and occurring throughout the World. Countries, like Australia, Brazil, United Kingdom, and the United States all have these issues with healthcare workers and hospitals refusing to give these unauthorized COVID-19 treatments (Voltz, 2021).
In terms of the suppliers in this article, the suppliers are the unauthorized covid treatments, like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, and even the drug companies. On the other hand, the demanders and purchasers of health policy would be the hospitals and healthcare workers calling for action in terms of refusing the unauthorized drugs to be given, and even the lawsuits occurring would go along with this. Lastly, the community and individuals being affected are the ones that have COVID-19. Some individuals may want to be treated with unauthorized medications, if they may make them feel better, when they hospitals having been refusing to give these medications, this then leads to violence (Voltz, 2021). Unauthorized drugs for COVID-19 will be a continued issue that needs to be addressed.
The second article I selected also has to do with COVID-19 in terms of sick leave being taken aware for most individuals and feeling the need to go to work again. Sick leave in terms of federal laws has run out in terms of COVID-19 related paid sick leave (Bichell, 2021). With the expiration of federal funding, small businesses or companies cannot afford to pay people sick leave related to COVID-19. The continued need for funding for COVID-19 related sick leave is necessary. Many individuals are even avoiding or afraid to get the COVID-19 vaccine, since they may suffer side effects and would be forced to miss a day or two of work, and cannot afford to do so (Bichell, 2021).
In terms of health policy, the suppliers in the case of sick leave would be the companies' individuals work for, saying sick leave is an option for COVID-19 related issues. The demanders of health policy are the individuals that get sick from COVID-19 that would like sick time for COVID-19 related issues. With the federal government not funding the sick leave for COVID-19 related issues, many companies cannot afford to pay individuals for sick time. The purchasers would be the federal government, since they are the ones that previously funded the sick leave time related to COVID-19 related issues and are not continuing to fund this government program due to the limiting of government funds. The last aspect is the individuals and community in terms of this article, the workers working for most businesses are affected, especially small businesses, because they relied on government funding to supply sick leave for COVID-19 and related issues of COVID-19. The need for funding for sick leave related to COVID-19 is needed with the rise of cases and needs to be looked at by the federal government.
