Question: Most new mutations that have any effect at all on fitness are negative. Predict what you expect to happen to allele frequencies in a population when you have mutation and selection acting in opposite directions from each other (i.e. mutation keeps adding more copies of the allele every generation and selection keeps removing them.) How high should the frequency of the less fit allele be if there is a high mutation rate compared to a low mutation rate? How high should the frequency of the less fit allele be if the disadvantage of the less fit genotype increases or decreases?
