Reflection: Cultural Identity Analysis

Instructions:

For this reflection paper, I'd like you to really think about your culture and co-cultures and how they have effected your ability to communicate with your family, friends and other around you. That could be at school, work, sports teams or elsewhere.

In your paper, which should be 1 to 2 pages long and single-spaced, I'd like you to begin with a paragraph that describes what culture/s and co-cultures you identity with. Be specific and explain why. For example, one of my co-cultures is I identify as Catholic. I grew up Catholic, my parents are Catholic, I baptized my children into that religion but I don't practice my religion anymore.

The next few paragraphs in your paper should address the following questions:

• Do you still identity with the co-cultures do you mentioned above? If not why? Have you "added" more co-cultures? Changed some?
• How have those co-cultures changed your life or worldview?
• What do you want people to know about the co-culture you represent?
• Are there any stereotypes about your co-culture that you would like to address?
• How do you feel your culture and/or co-culture has impacted your ability to communicate with others, especially those who may not identify in the same groups?

In your conclusion paragraph, please bring your paper to a close by reflecting upon what you learned from this assignment. (Hopefully you learned something!)
