PROMPT: The United Nations (2015) defines structural determinants, as the socioeconomic and political context, structural mechanisms that generate social stratification in society, and the socioeconomic position of the individual. These structural determinants operate through a set of intermediary determinants to shape health outcomes, the main categories being material circumstances, psychosocial circumstances, behavioral and/or biological factors, and the health system itself.
