Question: The decade saw one of the worst environmental catastrophes in recent US history in New Orleans. It also saw the first Black president, Barack Hussein Obama, move into the White House on January 20, 2009. These are just two historical events of the aughts, a bougie word for zero that is used by academics to talk about the 2000s. Choose one (1) historical event discussed in your textbook that happened during the 2000s. Provide the historical event's 5 Ws (who, what, where, when, and why). Then compare and contrast that event with the current state of affairs today. For example, if you write about Hurricane Katrina in 2005, you'd be discussing the state of the environment today. If you discuss the election of President Obama, you'd be discussing the state of politics, race, and perhaps the election of first Madam Vice President Kamala Harris.
