Richard Venola, a retired U.S. marine wrote a fiery column for "Guns & Ammo" magazine. He is an advocate of firearms and supporting organizations such as the NRA. He believes that Americans should posses a gun if they do not have a felony and are not crazy. On a warm night in 2012 Venola shot and killed his neighbor in "self-defense" which the law permits. The law states that deadly force can be use if the person believes his life is threatened. Venola's life actually wasn't threatened in reality. He was extremely drunk and just believed it was so was later acquitted by the jury for killing his neighbor, James O' Neill. This is just another example of the classic American homicide: starting with an argument and ending with a bullet.
