"Racial differences in the crime rate may be a function of racism practiced in the criminal justice system by police, court, and correctional institutions. According to this view, police are more likely to arrest racial minorities because of discriminatory arrest and search practices." (Chapter 2, p. 41)

Think of a recent case in which racial profiling by law enforcement has been called into question and explain why it is an issue in this dispute. How has racial discrimination changed over the years?
