2. Some extreme sport enthusiasts have been know to jump off the top of El Capitan, a sheer granite cliff of height 910.0 m in Yosemite National park. Assume a jumper runs horizontally off the top of El Capitan with a speed of 4.2 m/s. The person enjoys free-fall until 144.5 m from the ground, at which time he/she opens a parachute.

(i) How long (time) is the person in free-fall?

(ii) It is very important that the parachute be far away from the cliff when opened. How far is the jumper from the cliff when opening the parachute?
