How far does the platform move before coming to rest again : Two people are standing on a 3.19-m-long platform, one at each end. The platform floats parallel to the ground on a cushion of air and like a hovercraft. The two people, the platform and a 3.16-kg ball are all initially at rest.
What is the bearings impact velocity : Ball bearings can be made by letting spherical drops of molten metal fall in a tall tower - called a shot tower - and solidify as they fall. If a bearing needs 4.0s to solidify enough for impact, how high should the tower be?
What is the new resonant frequency : An LC circuit with L = 45 mH is used in a radio to decide the frequency of a selected radio station. The station's frequency is equal to the resonant frequency of the circuit.
Decide the maximum acceleration of the eardrum : When responding to sound, the human eardrum vibrates about its equilibrium position. Assume an eardrum is vibrating with an amplitude of 4.8x10-7 m and a maximum speed of 3.2x10-3 m/s
How far is the dog from the shore : A 10lb dog is standing on a flatboat so that he is 20ft from the shore. He walks 8ft on the boat toward the shore then halts. The boat weighs 40lb and one can assume there is no friction among it and the water. How far is the dog from the shore?
Two people begin at same place and walk around circular lake : Two people begin at the same place and walk around a circular lake in opposite directions. One walks with an angular speed of1.50 10-3 rad/s, while the other has an angular speed of 3.20 10-3 rad/s. How long will it be before they meet?
What is the initial angular velocity of the turbine : A wind turbine is originally spinning at a constant angular speed. As the wind's strength gradually increases, the turbine experiences a constant angular acceleration of 0.120rad/s2. After making 2871revolutions, its angular speed is 138rad/s.
