Question
A situation that is at the forefront of my mind is the miscommunication or non-communication of the Bally's and SDS update. Long explanation short these two programs allows a casino to monitor the machines and rewards that are given. These programs record and monitor machines, they can report issues if there are any issues and report these issues to the company.
These programs are also used to write jackpots which are winnings or report disputes like if a machine breaks down mid play and the customers must be paid out by one of our people because a ticket can not be printed out. I can explain further if need be but basically this program is used by multiple departments and is a necessity for most departments.
The mis communication about this update started about a week ago. An e-mail was sent out to some managers, and not to all departments. With the update some procedures where changes for us auditors the reports that must be ran and audited daily where changed. With the changes of these reports new reports had to be added in. we where not informed about these new reports or how to run them. However, IT was informed of the reports but did not communicate them further down the line. The reason behind the changes in these reports still have not been shared with us. But the information on how to run the reports was shared.
Another problem from this miscommunication was the change in the jackpot process, this change was not communicated at all to the slots department. The process of printing and creating process need two people now, and the signing process is not just physical process, but two members must log into the program, then physically sign the jackpot.
This process was miscommunicated by the floor personal being told they needed two people to sign the jackpot, but it was not made clear that they would have to sign in the computer. Or how that this was a gaming requirement and not just upstairs (managers) thinking they do not know how to properly pay a jackpot.
The problem with these communications could have been solve if someone took the time to consider the audience and right emails for the individual departments. Rather then sending out a basic email saying that the programs where being updated. With the wrong update date. The department would have been better situated to handle the updates and new processes. I understand that some information does not need to be shared with other departments like the audit reports with the slot team.
