Question: Edward Gray, a 67-year-old man, was brought to the Emergency Department, by his daughter, with a wound on the left lower leg. The wound occurred due to a trauma a couple of days ago. He lives alone and was unable to leave the house due to pain and decreased mobility. Physical examination: Temperature 38.1oC BMI 28.2 Wound on anterior left lower leg Surrounding skin - red and hot to touch extending circumferentially, painful to touch and oedematous Using the above scenario complete the following two sections: How Edward's body is responding to the injury (Inflammatory response) Identify clinical manifestations demonstrated by Edward, and discuss the pathophysiological mechanisms that resulted in each of those clinical manifestations Discuss how nursing interventions, including medications, will reduce the inflammatory process and alleviate the symptoms
