Assignment: Writing
This paper is an opportunity for you to conduct an in-depth analysis of learning theories of your choosing. You may select from theoretical perspectives such as cognitivism, behaviorism, or sociocultural theory, or specific learning approaches or frameworks informed by these theories, such as cognitive load theory and communities of practice. If you are interested in delving into constructivism, I suggest comparing cognitive constructivism and social constructivism. Constructivism enhances our understanding of teaching approaches and methods, drawing from both cognitive and sociocultural theories. It stands apart by focusing not on how people learn but on how to teach.
How to approach the paper? Imagine you are teaching these theories to undergraduate students. You will need to not only introduce the theories, explaining the underlying beliefs and main figures/founders/scholars, and elaborate key or presentative principles but also discuss their historical background, limitations, and boundaries with a critical eye. At the same time, I encourage you to maintain an engaging writing style that use your personal tones or include your reflections on what led you to make certain comparisons. Please keep it engaging yet concise.
Formatting: This paper should follow the structure of an academic paper, from an introduction through the body to a conclusion. An abstract is not required for this paper. Regarding the scope of your analysis, here are some suggested topics, but feel free to develop your own ideas:
1. How each theory view knowledge, learning, and teaching?
2. How each theory define the role and nature of interaction in learning?
3. What the types of assessments are advocated by each theory?
4. How they address learner autonomy and agency? Get the instant assignment help.
5. How each theory views the influence of the environment and surroundings on learning?
6. How each theory explains student motivation, emotion and engagement?
