Earlier this week, the US Senate passed a bill to boost and support microchip manufacturing again within the borders of the United States. The opening sentence of the White House statement on the topic reads like this: "Today, the House passed a bill that will make cars cheaper, appliances cheaper, and computers cheaper." Surprisingly, making these exact products cheaper - among many others - was the one key reason why the microchip industry gradually left the United States towards Taiwan, China, and South Korea many years ago when globalization was continuously on the rise.
