Assignment - Choose any developmental stage for this assignment that you did not use in Papers #1 or #2. The developmental stage will coincide with the real or fictitious individual chosen for the analysis.
This assignment requires the application of the developmental life course perspective to a real or fictitious client or another individual. You will identify this real or fictitious client and their developmental stage. Students will learn to analyze the development of a client or other identified individual through the stage-specific developmental tasks, psychosocial crisis, central process. the radius of significant others, and the prime adaptive ego quality or core pathology in the resolution of the crisis. The written developmental case analysis will be 4-5 pages in length and should demonstrate the student's understanding of the interrelatedness of psychosocial lifespan components and bio-psycho-social-cultural contexts.
Refer to Chapter 3, section 3.2, and Table 1 (and other course materials) to review the components of psychosocial theory across the lifespan.
Incorporate into your response: detailed information on your client's stage of development, the most apparent developmental tasks that they are working through as they try to resolve their current situation, the psychosocial crisis they are facing, the central process they will use to resolve it, and the radius of significant others who surround them as they work through the crisis. Make sure to also answer the following questions: In your opinion, how is your client coping? Will they emerge from this stage with the stage's prime adaptive ego quality or a core pathology? You should also incorporate the five questions listed below in your response:
1. How does this case illustrate the interconnections among the biological, psychological, and societal systems?
2. Given what you know about the assumptions of psychosocial theory, how might your client's stage of development influence their perceptions of a psychosocial crisis (of their developmental stage) and their approach to coping with this crisis/conflict?
3. How might you pose a research question based on the information raised in your client's case study?
4. How might your client's social support system be involved in helping them cope with the previously described crisis/conflict?
5. How might the current crisis/conflict impact future psychosocial development for your client?
