Pre-service Reflective Journal
The Reflective Journal (min. 200 words) is a record of the pre-service Early Childhood Teacher's journey to build professional knowledge in education and care for young children as they reflect on policy reading, observation, and conversations with the Supervising Teacher's practice to demonstrate understanding of how philosophy, ethics and practice will influence their practice.
You will need to attempt ONE daily reflective journal each day in any order during your practicum. Please us the questions provided to guide your writing.
Journal 1 How does the Supervising Teacher acknowledge children's emotions and provide experiences for their emotional development? What is the philosophy, theory and practice guiding this practice? What aspect of guiding children's emotions are you challenged by and how do you think you can overcome that?

What is the philosophy, theory and practice guiding this practice? Reflect on one incident where the positive guidance of children impresses you. How can you adopt that understanding to your future teaching?
Journal 4 How does the Supervising Teacher support children's developing social awareness? What is the philosophy, theory and practice supporting children's social development? Reflect on one incident where the Supervising Teacher is actively involved in helping children develop socially. What did you like or dislike about how the Supervising Teacher handled the incident?
Journal 5 How does the Supervising Teacher support literacy acquisition at the service? What philosophy, theory and practice guides the Supervising Teacher's provision of literacy experiences? Reflect on what went well and what else can be done to support literacy acquisition at the service.
