I decided to focus on the workplace as an agent of socialization. It is a large part of expanding people's lives and influencing them in different ways outside of school, friends, and family. The workplace can have people with a variety of different backgrounds, ages, and beliefs which makes it an interesting place to learn. It was only when the upper management came into the store that the pushed us to make sure things were done the proper way. It was stuck in this back and forth because upper management and corporate thought the way they designed was best, but in practice it actually slowed things down. Overall though this norm had some interesting effects on social roles. It made the teams more annoyed at upper management and corporate. It made workers less likely to employ the strategies sent down by management since management's ideas didn't work before.
