Game Summary: The class will form two teams. one team uses craft sticks, while the other team uses Unifix cubes. They will estimate, measure, and spin the Greater Than or Less Than Spinner to determine who gets the point. They discuss the difference in measurements between the two measuring units. Have a student pull one of the cards out of the bag, show it to the class, and locate the item in the room. Ask students to estimate how many craft sticks it will take to measure the item and share their thinking with a partner.

Then have them estimate how many Unifix cubes it will take. Hold a craft stick at the beginning of the item as you ask how many sticks it will take to measure it. Do the same with a Unifix cube. Have two students from Team A measure the item with Unifix cubes and report to the class, and then have two students from Team B measure the item with craft sticks and report.

Record the results on the board as the students report. Now spin the Greater Than or Less Than Spinner. If it lands on greater than, the team that had the greater amount gets a point. If it lands on less than, the team that had the lesser amount gets the point. Record points with tally marks on the board. Play three rounds, repeating steps 4-8. The team with the most points is the winner.
