Questions:
What is the author advocating? Are they advocating for change in present conditions? Are they advising caution as we engage in social reforms? Are they advising us to avoid naïve utopian solutions? Are they calling for revolution in consciousness or revolution in politics? Etc.
How does the author convey their ideas? Through a dialogue? Through monologue? Omniscient narrator? And, most importantly, what is the significance/effect of this method?
Why do you think the author created their utopia? For example, does the tale act as a comparative critique of the present, a dire warning, a rigid blueprint, a vague wish, an ironic thought exercise, etc., etc. ? In other words, what function(s) does the story serve?
What role does technology play in the story? What effect does technology have on the people and on society?
What is your assessment of the author's vision? Do you think their central idea is: worthwhile, naïve, abhorrent, noble, dangerous, accurate, important, etc.? explain why.
