Question: We were lucky to have Jenifer Sarver to speak with us on messaging. Sarver, a well-known Texas communications consultant, began her talk with the story she told while on the campaign trail. Her "why." She ends with a discussion of how she did in her Congressional campaign and why she thinks messaging matters. She also makes several points about campaigning in the time of Trump's influence on the Republican party.

Listen to her story and think about how you'd develop your "why" or you candidate's "why." Note how she picks careful examples and frames her childhood and experiences. For example: As a woman, why would it be important to reframe her brothers' perceptions of her as 'bossy' into her description of 'leader'?

In her life, what taught her to be a giving person, and how does she connect that to lessons from her parents?
How does she show that she is resilient in her story?
How does she place herself ideologically, beyond just the party label? (What party is she a part of and where does she fit within the party?)
