Case Study: Both are such great and relevant topics in our lives today in the workplace and anywhere where we socialize with others. The way we feel about ourselves, our insecurities and perceptions of others can have an impact on the way we feel, behave and communicate with others. In a work environment this can help us or hinder us.
How many times have we made assumptions about someone else, acted on those assumptions and then found out we were wrong? Yikes! We can misinterpret someone as being rude, when really they are shy or feeling a lack of self confidence. Sometimes the way we react based on what we 'think' can only make it worse!
It is so important to be aware of ourselves, and others in any social setting.
When people apply for jobs they of course want to sell their best self to their potential employer or new boss. We put our best food forward to impress and engage in our resume, cover letter and interview, and certainly during the training process. If only we could all keep this amount of effort into our work lives and relationships with others...but that is easier said than done.
We are human and it is impossible not to let our emotions, frustrations, observations and assumptions impact our behaviour.
Question: How does self esteem impact the way we treat or interact with others? It can be scary to put yourself out there...post your thoughts about how self-esteem impacts your life in and out of the workplace.
