Case Study: Sam Jacobzinski, age 84, was admitted to Riverview Center in acute cardiac failure 4 years ago. There was little hope for his recovery, but Sam fooled everyone. He recovered and has been an active resident ever since. He is alert and involved in facility activities and was elected Resident Council president. Sam uses a motorized wheelchair and makes daily rounds to visit the other residents. Periodically he "overdoes it" and needs bed rest, but even then his spirit is felt throughout the facility.
