Case Study: In our course, we have looked at how Black users take up new computing and internet technologies (McIlwain; Everett), understand transportation technologies (Sorin), and relate to surveillance technologies (Browne). We have considered the role Indigenous women played in early electronics manufacture (Nakamura). We've also considered many representations of whiteness in the marketing and domestication of new media technologies over the 20th century (e.g. Maille Petty on electric light).
