Assignment: To answer the questions below, select a role in which you are interested, and research that role within the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Network, also known as O*NET. Although the occupations included within this database do not comprise an exhaustive list, you should be able to find at least a similar role to the one you have selected, if not that title specifically. For each occupation included within O*NET, you will find information about the typical tasks often required of that role, a list of the tools and technology often used within that role, a rundown of the KSAs (knowledge-skills-abilities) that are typically required of someone in that role, examples of typical work activities associated with that role, as well as a review of work styles and work values that often facilitate someone's ability to be successful in that role.
Refer to the O*NET overview of the role you have selected as you answer the questions below.
Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400-600 words that address the following:
1. How does the O*NET overview of your selected role compare to your expectations of that role?
• Be sure to include any specific points about which you were previously unaware.
• How does this new information affect your perception of this role?
• Do these new aspects further support your candidacy for such a role, or do they introduce potential barriers? How?
2. Search the job boards (board A, board B or board C) for at least 2 similar titles.
• Compare those job postings to the O*NET overview of your selected role and your expectations of those positions.
• Are there aspects of those roles that you were not expecting to see?
• Do these new aspects further support your candidacy for such a role, or do they introduce potential barriers? How?
