Case Study: Imagine that you are a career counselor. You are about to give a presentation to the culinary arts students at the school where you work. The goal of this presentation is to pique their interest in professional organizations and get them to start thinking about their future careers. How would you explain the significance of professional organizations in hospitality and food service? Analyze and evaluate their significance and share how you would explain this to a group of students.

Consider your own career-related goals and dreams for the future-what are they? Briefly explain your career goals as they are today. Then, identify a specific professional organization that could benefit your pursuit of these goals. Evaluate how you might benefit from joining this organization.

Imagine that you own a trendy new restaurant in downtown Austin. You serve modern American cuisine in a fun and moderately casual environment. What would your dress code be for all staff-waitstaff, hosts, managers, etc.? Identify and describe the dress code that you would enforce in your restaurant for staff. While joining professional organizations can certainly be helpful with your career and your path to leadership positions, are there other activities or endeavors that you can pursue now, and in the future, to potentially benefit your career goals?
