Question: Your patient, Mike, a 46-year-old runner had a fracture in his left FOOT in October. It took him far longer than expected to heal. He came into your office in February (this is important) and while he was almost fully (and finally) healed, he was feeling run down. Furthermore, he is concerned that his muscles are sore, he has low energy, so..... he is now back to see you again, in April.
For full credit, predict what TYPE of fracture might exist AND tell me which bones are found in the leg and in the foot. You should list 8 and underline them. NO ankle bones, please. They MUST be bones we studied (Note: 2 parts to this question).
Explain the role of his skin in healing. Think: what does his skin have to do with his bones? and as it relates to skin, explain why his foot bones might be healing so slowly.
List 3-4 steps in the healing process (of his foot), using AND underlining 3 bone cell types.
How does muscle contraction occur for Mike to run? What are three steps (there may be more, I only need three) in the process of muscle contraction AND nutritionally, please underline what is needed (think: nutrition-macromolecules, vitamins, minerals)?
