3. Scenario - Anya is a 54 yo female who has been obese most of her life and has been on many "diets" with weight loss and then regains. She has a lack of energy and has difficulty moving. She has a sedentary job and gets out of breath easily. She avoids going to a physician because the last time she was "shamed" for her weight. She tries to avoid carbohydrates and snacks but then if she has a snack she binges. Anya is your friend's mom and she consults with you, because she knows you are studying nutrition in school. She tells you she wants a healthy diet to lose weight and wants to get more physically active. Review this information:

When talking with clients:

• Emphasize lifestyle change and health improvement
• Emphasize achievable, behavior-based goals not weight
• Avoid language that places blame on the client
