Heracles who is literally "immortal," since he is Zeus's mortal child, meets with a tragic and intensely painful death. We are caught off guard as it were at the turn of events. After all, one would have expected Heracles to have gained immortality in a more deserving manner. How does Heracles die? What brings upon the final tragedy in his life and in what way, despite his physical death, does Heracles become immortal?
