Case: Once you've identified your five character strengths and five engagement strengths, find a partner/friend/mentor and have them complete the strengths exercise as if they were you.
Compare the two lists to see if your partner/friend/mentor sees you the same way you see yourself. In this activity, you will be reflecting on and writing about your partner's view of your strengths and how it compares to your own.
Write down your top five character strengths (from the survey results or the handout) and your top five engagement strengths (from the handouts). As you reflect, think about how similar or different your friend's assessment of your strengths was from your own.
As you review the descriptions for your five character strengths and five engagement strengths, write a 1 to 2 page reflection, answering the following questions:
What did you learn about yourself from the two strengths exercises? What one thing was most interesting (or, perhaps, surprising) about your strengths?
Give an example of how you use at least one of your character strengths as part of your daily life AND how you use at least one of your engagement strengths as part of your work/school life.
How do your character and engagement strengths connect with what you've learned about yourself so far in this class? Does this seem to connect with your results from other class exercises such as My Life Story, your values, and/or your personality type?
Describe how knowing your strengths can affect your life in the future (positively and/or negatively). How can knowing your strengths help you be successful? To answer this question, look at how your strengths might affect your personal and/or professional life.
What was the impact of knowing what your partner saw as your strengths?
