This week's readings have explored the changes health professions education has undergone with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Programs everywhere had to quickly redesign courses, move to online platforms, and find ways for their students to complete required clinical hours while often unable to physically meet face-to-face with patients. For this discussion, answer the following questions:

  1. For physical therapy discipline, what were the common changes utilized by programs to adapt to meet student needs, including ways to obtain clinical hours, during the COVID-19 pandemic? If working in a clinically based academic program, what did your department do to accommodate student learning?
  2. Were changes made nationally to the number of hours required by students in order to successfully complete programs?
  3. In your opinion, how do you think your discipline will adapt long term to meet student needs in the future? Are the current changes temporary or permanent? Support with current references
