This Christmas season is interesting in many ways. The economy is strong, unemployment is low and the stock market continues to thrive. However, tariffs are hurt large parts of the country, and prices for basic goods continue to rise. in fact, the economy has only been growing at about 2%. Some brick and mortar stores realized good results, while other stores had weaker results. The Internet continues to thrive with Amazon dominating the business.

Be sure to consider that last Christmas season we were faced with a government shut down and unseasonable weather throughout the country. How have these events impacted on TY sales? Are stores up against weaker than expected sales.

How did fashion retailers do this year '19 compared to last year '18? How was the discount business (Walmart, Target)? How did luxury business perform (Saks, Neimans, )? How did the traditional brick and mortar operations perform (Macy*s, Nordstroms)? How did specialty chains perform (Gap, Zara)? Lastly, how are internet sales (Amazon)?

Using this information, how do you think sales will trend for the Spring '20? Use your research to substantiate your opinion.
