Question I: Harvest is a play text, so it was written to be performed on stage, in front of an audience, with actors and costumes and lighting and a set. Because of this, plays can sometimes be a little difficult for readers to get into, as there tends to be a lot you need to fill in with your imagination. Thus, as you read, try to keep some of these questions in mind about the "world" of the play:

1. How do you think it might look on stage? Is the stage open and bare, small and cluttered, lots of light or shadows? What do you imagine the set to look like? What colors, textures, patterns, etc. would you imagine?

2. Where would the characters be situated?

3. How do you imagine them to be dressed?

4. Where and how do they move? What is their physical relationship and proximity to each other?

Question II: A central conflict in the play Harvest is the dynamic between the "Donors" and the "Receivers," which, on a global scale, can be compared to the relationship between developed (or first-world) nations and developing (or third-world) countries, or between colonizers and colonized peoples. I'd like you to consider this dynamic a bit more in-depth for this week's response.
