The spinal cord is a complex system of nervous tissue. The brain and spinal cord make up the central nervous system. When the spinal cord operates correctly, it is the main pathway for information connecting the brain and the peripheral nervous system. Injuries or damage to the spinal cord results in a variety of symptoms in the body.

you will look at the spinal cord and the central nervous system. Consider the body's need for a nervous system. Using the information from this module, create an initial post using the following prompts. Your initial post needs to address each discussion prompt. The discussion is broken down into two parts.

Question 1:

  1. Why do different levels of spinal cord injuries cause different signs and symptoms in the body?
  2. Choose an injury of the spinal cord and explain the signs and symptoms of that injury, as well as explain in terms related to the function of the spinal nerves.
  3. Take an example of the reflex arc and explain where all its components are located.
