Discussion 1:
This week's discussion asks you to reflect on and consider the impacts of sociology in the workplace.
Each discussion is meant to be a collaborative space for conversation in which to process the concepts within the course. To ensure an interesting and respectful discussion, you are encouraged to think creatively about your initial posts and build on the points made by your peers. Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful towards your peers and instructor in your discussion posts and replies. It is also important to review the module resources and read the prompts in their entirety before participating in the discussion.
Create one initial post and follow up with at least two response posts.
For your initial post, address the following:
How do you see sociology in the workplace making an impact on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)?
How did this course prepare you for working in the field of sociology?
Discussion 2:
This week's activity involves becoming more aware of the harms of communication technology. Spend time reading the websites linked in the Module Resources folder to learn about how real people are hurt in these situations.
These links are not here to scare you or make you want to stop using communication technology. This information is available so you can identify whether you are the perpetrator or victim of harmful behavior and so you can help yourself or others if you encounter harmful situations.
This week's readings encompass an abundance of different material, yet all relate to what can be incredibly hurtful and sometimes life-threatening situations. These readings likely invoked in you a response-good or bad, aggressive or fearful, etc.-especially given the prevalence of these issues in our society at this current time.
