Readings Covered: Your Mind Matters,
Stott makes an argument that faith is not illogical belief in the improbable. What is faith? Make sure you refer to the arguments Stott makes in this section. (Hint: Much of what Stott writes in chapter 2 provides the foundation for his argument here, so check those terms!)
According to the lecture, it's a problem to base one's knowledge merely upon one's experience. Why is this a problem?
In chapter, Stott lists six ways the mind is used in the Christian life practice (worship, faith, holiness, guidance, evangelism, and ministry). Choose one of these ways and give an example of how you have seen Christians using their minds AND not using their minds in that sphere of Christian life practice.
Read Psalm 90, which was composed by Moses. How do you see Moses evidencing faith as "a reasoning trust, a trust which reckons thoughtfully and confidently upon the trustworthiness of God" (Stott, 2006, p. 52)?
Using material from chapter, explain why knowledge leads to love.
