Questions:
1. Identify the type of group you plan to conduct and its purpose.
2. The group must be either a mock group (based on a vignette) or focused on a topic or presenting problem that you can safely navigate Ex: Mental Health, addiction, etc.
3. Which have you chosen for your group? If you have chosen a 'real' group, how do you plan to ensure the emotional safety of group members?
4. Each member of your group has been chosen. (Joanna, Albert, David) Discuss either the role you have created for each one of the clients above to fill in your mock group, or the reason you have invited them to participate in your specific type of group.
5. Provide a basic outline for this group and how you plan to fulfill the requirements of the beginning and middle phases. address the following:
- Engagement - how will you cultivate group cohesion? What is one ice breaker activity/question that you can use to help members get to know each other better and acclimate to the group? How do you plan to assist the members in identifying mutually agreed upon goals?
- Intervention - in the intervention stage how will your group accomplish its goals and fulfill its above purpose? What is one specific activity that you could facilitate related to the group's purpose or presenting problem?
6. What ethical dilemmas may you encounter when facilitating this group?
7. Finally, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being very confident and 1 being not at all confident; how would you rate the confidence you have in this group facilitation skills? Suggestion rating would be in the middle.
