Assignment - Managing People in Project Management
This assessment needs to be completed individually. This is a good starting point to develop organising and leadership skills which a project manager require for efficient and effective outcomes of the project.
LEARNING OUTCOMES ASSESSED -
This assessment covers the following learning outcomes of the course as part of graduate profile outcome(s):
1. Demonstrate leadership and human resource skills in the management of people within a project context.
2. Demonstrate project management to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with specifications.
INSTRUCTIONS - Word limit is 1000 (minimum) to 1200 (maximum). This is a homework assignment. Any sources used should be appropriately referenced using APA style. MS Word format using black and white color, with the main text in 12 point Arial.
PROJECT PLANNING - Students must find a project which can be an existing or a new idea in IT, construction, food industry, hospitality (e.g. hospital, hotel), government, education sectors or any idea which is approved by your lecturer.
For the selected project, you will prepare a human resource plan as is explained in the following section.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCE PLAN
Assume yourself as a project manager and answer the following questions:
1. The introductory section includes a definition of the project, project description, backgrounds, aim and the expected outcomes.
2. How do you plan and execute managing people within your project? Address the following issues:
a) Recruiting and selecting qualified staff
b) The criteria considered to build up your project team
c) Training and developing your staff according to your project requirements
d) Performance standards that you use to evaluating your staff
e) Rewarding system to motivate your staff
3. During the review of staff performance, if you have identified some areas which need to be improved, then what is your suggestion?
