1. Execution plan: As per the recommendation for eHarmony to develop a new product to target the expanded customer segment (medium-term relationship), the following implementation plan is proposed. The plan can be subdivided into 3 phases spanning 3 years:
Planning (6 months) : This will be the planning phase where eHarmony team works out the detailed plan including clear goals to achieve, prepare expenditure estimates, conducts market study, analyze competitors and the target audience in depth. Particularly, the analysis of competitors'
business models and pricing strategies will help eHarmony to come up with a suitable advertising and recruitment strategy. The team also needs to outline risks in this phase.
Implementation (1-2 years) : This process involves hiring additional resources where needed and allocating the resources among the new project vs business as usual effectively. In detail, eHarmony needs to create a new brand strategy for the new product, including the brand name, its positioning and pricing. This should be done in parallel with the research and studies for a set of adjusted questions and matching algorithms for the new group. Developers will also need to design the site and application that implements the new algorithm with a suitable new interface. The company also needs to
allocate funds for advertisement and the marketing team to prepare commercials, banners, etc. This phase ends when the Product is introduced in the launch event.
Post-Implementation (6 months to 1 year):
Management needs to monitor several important KPIs once the product goes live. These include the
Market Share that eHarmony's new product has captured since inception,
the Profit Margin of the product, the Customer Sentiments - how they are responding, Active User Base
- how many users are using after registration, Conversion Rate
- how many users are converting from the free to paid tier, Success Rate
- how many users can find satisfactory dates. Customer Support,Satisfaction Surveys, and Enhancement of products will be an iterative process during this phase
