1. A common question many have is why study statistics in the first place.

2. Say we have a sample of 100 with mean 5 and std of 0.5 and you do not know the Population Sigma. How do you go about calculating different probabilities--say an item was selected at random and we wanted to know how far it is from the mean or the probability that it is at least 4.5 or more?
