Think about an organization in which you are very familiar with. Consider the culture and think beyond the values described in company websites and literature. This is important to a full understanding of the organization's culture. While this is difficult unless one has the opportunity to talk with insiders, former employees, participate in projects, etc., this is something I encourage anyone considering employment with an organization. For example, what about dress? Language (including profanity)? Work hour expectations? (not published hours, but more about attitudes about getting in to work early, staying late, weekends, etc.). Additudes about time off for family events such as children's activities such as sports, music, etc. that may interfere with with work hours? Overnight travel expectations? (expectations to attend dinners with customers, attend cocktails in the bar with clients after dinner, etc.). A popular, and controversial topic currently is DEI. How does the organization address this? Or does it? If not, how do you feel about the current demographics?
