Diversity and inclusion are words used often in the workplace. Many organizations focus on defining the words and initiating positive actions to create culture where differences are truly valued.  Of course, some organizations do not have a clear definition of diversity and inclusion and feel the workforce is diverse if divided by race, ethnicity, and gender.   Effective leaders understand the importance of embracing the value of diversity and inclusion as best practice for innovation, teamwork, and success.    Based upon the readings and the videos respond to the following questions:

  1. How do you define diversity?
  2. How do you define inclusion?
  3. As you consider your definitions, how does it compare with your organization's approach to diversity and inclusion?
  4. Tavakoli (2015) suggest that leaders should seek opposing view to make better decisions.  How do you encourage this approach among the workforce and make every voice feel valued?
  5. As a leader, what are some steps you can take to bring greater awareness of diversity and inclusion in your professional and personal life?
