Question: How do we interpret the Conference Board statistics related to the average amount spent on training and development per employee in Canada? Is it something that Canadian organizations need to be worried about? Are there other ways to explain the drop perhaps? Did the Conference Board Outlook Paper given any suggestions? Here is another piece of the puzzle i.e. Canada currently ranks 29th out of 35 developed countries in terms of per capita spending by employers on training and development of staff.
Let's assume that the developed companies have all figured out how to use technology to lower the price of training. I don't think that Canada has the sole market on online learning technology ---and yet Canada is still in the bottom 20% of developed countries for the amount of money spent on T&D.
